HIS Way is a non-denominational Christian prison ministry focused on helping ex-offenders find a healthy pathway back into society following incarceration.
HIS Way begins with a three day EXODUS weekend inside the prison walls. This is a time that allows the inmate to focus on their spirituality without the distractions of everyday prison life. This three day EXODUS is followed by weekly meetings in both Lieber Correctional Institute and Coastal Pre-release Center, where HIS Way members can express themselves and learn how to be stronger in their faith. Leaders also explore important life skills with those soon to be released. Once released, the ex-offender is greeted at the gate by a HIS Way representative. Star Gospel often offers transitional housing for these men. Upon securing housing, the individual is told where they can access different services and where to gather documentation needed to find employment.
Weekly faith-based support groups are held at Star Gospel Mission for all members and supporters of HIS Way. Friday evening meetings are scheduled to provide a defense from the temptations that paydays and weekends often create. The Friday night meetings are the cornerstone of the HIS Way experience. These meetings allow individuals to express their feelings and discuss their spirituality with others who may be going through the same things.
Once a month, HIS Way teams up with the Civic Justice Corps to perform a service project in the community. These projects can range from picking up trash to helping create affordable housing for the community. No project is too small if it has a positive impact on the surrounding community.
